Horse Heaven Hills
The 2014 growing season started with early heat and vine development. High heat throughout the summer promoted vine stress, with final ripening occurring in late September under ideal conditions. The 2014 wines are absolutely amazing. The wines have intense flavors, beautiful color & excellent balance.
This wine is 100% Cabernet Franc from our vines at Phinny Hill vineyards. It was aged in 100% used French oak for 23 months. The ideal consumption is 2 to 5 years from release date, but this wine will develop for another 5-7 years. The alcohol by volume is 14.1%. This wine was bottled July 2016
18.5/20 Rand Sealey, Review of Washington Wines This 100% varietal wine presents a crimson-ruby color and attractive, smoky aromas of raspberry, cherry, plum, red roses, tobacco, cedar, rubbed sage and incense. The flavors mirror the aromatics, with ripe and generous, yet focused, red fruits that are underlain with licorice, cocoa, French roast and Horse Heaven wind blown earth. On the back, the wine turns chewy textured, with notes of roasted berries and nuts, dried cherries, toffee and graphite, followed by a ripe tannin finish.
