Horse Heaven Hills
The 2005 growing season was near perfect! A cool spring followed by a long warm summer with sunny days and cool nights. The grapes were the most beautiful we have seen to date.

94 Wine Advocate The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Gunselman Bench Vineyard was aged in 100% new French oak for 26 months. Sourced from an estate vineyard planted in 2000, it is a glass-coating opaque purple in color. Very fragrant with aromas of toasty new oak, pencil lead, incense,
blackcurrant, and blackberry, on the palate it is plush, layered, and succulent while displaying a muscular, masculine personality. Impeccably balanced, it will slowly unwind over the next 6-8 years and offer a drinking window extending from 2010 to 2025.- Jay Miller
Wine Press NW Few Washington wineries have risen on our radar as quickly and consistently as this Spokane produce. Owners Joseph and Rebecca Gunselman use grapes from their eponymous vineyard in Horse Heaven Hills to craft a Cabernet that revels complexity and finesse. It opens with aromas of red currents, violets, caramelized sugar and roasted plums, followed by flavors of dark plums, blackberries and black cherries. This is still a young wine and will likely continue to improve with up to a half-decade of cellar time.
89 Paul Gregutt Wine Enthusiast Fragrant, smoky, oaky and seductive, this toasty wine is immediately appealing, and has been given the all-star treatment. The young vineyard offers promising fruit; its flavors light and clean, tasting of raspberries and pie cherries. Lots of oak gives it a very chocolaty finish.
